Eclipse 3.0 problems disappeared workspaces

I stopped the eclipse before installing the plugin. I installed the RMI plugin files into the plugin and features directory. Then restarted the eclipse which has JRE1.5. Installed the latest 1.6.x plugin . After this all my java, tomcat and c++ workspaces disappeared and cannot be opened even though the workspaces exist on disk. I installed the tomcat plugin with the same configuration but I did not see the same problem. I can open new projects though after installing rmi plugin.

That is a very strance problem and I have never encountered it before.

What do you mean by "disappearing workspaces"? Do you mean the workspace directories? Or maybe the projects?

Is it possible that the current perspective does not show the Java package explorer?

Please provide more information (log files would be best) to help me look at this problem.
